Hire Me

Need some crowd-pleasing live music for your pub or private party? Looking for an award-winning and reliable freelance writer? Email me at jongorey at gmail if you'd like to work together.

Live Music

If you'd like to take it up a notch at your next party or private event, I can perform hours of acoustic covers for your guests (I know more than 100 songs spanning six decades, from the Beatles and Tom Petty to Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan, but can learn specific requests given advance notice) and provide the necessary sound equipment.

I know the ropes of live entertainment. I've performed at clubs and bars all over the world, but also at wedding rehearsal dinners and birthday parties. And of course I've played hundreds of shows in and around Boston -- including many a Saint Patrick's Day and, for awhile, most Saturday nights in Southie... so rest assured, I can handle your drunk uncle.

Writing

As much as I'd love to make music for a living, I'm actually a professional writer by trade. I'm the author of Home Buying 101, published by Simon & Schuster, and my work has appeared in the Boston Globe, Apartment Therapy, This Old House, MSN Money, and elsewhere - including my real estate and home improvement blog, House & Hammer, and in Land Lines, the magazine of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy.

I've won more than a dozen awards from the National Association of Real Estate Editors, and twice won a Gold Award from the North American Travel Journalists Association.

I specialize in travel features, housing and real estate, and opinion essays, and I'm available for off-site freelance writing, copy editing, or ghost writing. Here's a link to my portfolio on MuckRack.
